Hancock & Fox was originally founded as a commercial and residential interior design consultancy where we built a stellar reputation for our bespoke 'soft furnishings'. It became clear that we were creating items unlike anything else available in the industry and so our time was increasingly focused on those products, until we transitioned to being specialist, full time, interior tailor.
Over years of repeated observation, it was always been our belief, that ‘soft furnishings’ on even on the highest level luxury projects were undervalued, overlooked and the level of originality, craftsmanship, design and detail was almost never on the same level when compared to other items within high-end interior spaces.
’Cushions’, for example, have always been nothing more than the fabric used to make them, and there seemed to be a lack of creativity and forward-thinking within the industry, of how soft furnishing could be ‘better’ and play a more significant central role. Very few manufacturers, if any, were actually designing a product with bespoke features and details, and were instead just relying on fabrics to provide the visual interest; Two squares of fabric sewn together with a zipper is not a luxury bespoke item, regardless of the fabric used. There must be more to the process.
I, personally, always believed that ‘soft furnishings’ could be some of the most tactile, striking and luxurious features within a space, and so a journey began to lead by example and change the common view of how these items are perceived. Products which cross boundaries between interior design, fashion and ‘lifestyle’ with both masculine and feminine aesthetics.
With a clear, unique design ethos, we are continually developing our own original category of product. Whereby a designer bag, case or accessory, for example, is used to express the owner's appreciation for luxury excellence and style when outside the home, a Hancock & Fox product is the direct equivalent within it.
The difference between a Hancock & Fox product and almost every alternative is stark. Where most products in this industry take less than an hour to create, ours will often take days (potentially months for entire bespoke projects). By default, this establishes a different level of exclusivity and a different philosophy behind the whole process, for clients who recognise, appreciate and demand it.
By working with us, professional designers now have access to a higher standard of products entirely which simply cannot feasibly be made in-house, raising their client projects as a whole to a different level. It is very unlikely that any client, no matter how high-end the project, has seen products quite like them.
Hancock & Fox bespoke products return to the original, true definition of luxury goods; Exclusivity, an individual design ethos, handmade craftsmanship and attention to detail. Items which say something about the character, personality and standing of the owner, with everything being bespoke, one-off, not to be seen elsewhere.
Offering an exclusively bespoke design service gives us the ability to stay close to our clientele and produce something truly special, every time.
It’s a genuine privilege and honour to be continuing a very long and proud British tradition of high-end, luxury, small scale design and manufacture, textiles and excellence in detail. All combined and tied together by our own forward-thinking vision for this category of interior tailoring.
Everyone at Hancock & Fox thanks you for sharing our passion and being part of what we do.
